A Collection of Books

these are just a few of the books I've enjoyed recently.

You're the one that I want: a Christiansen family novel by Susan May Warren. Beautiful descriptions of grace.

Sequoia Scout by Brock and Bodie Thoene, breath-stopping adventure in California when it still belonged to Mexico.

Between Sundays, by Karen Kingsbury, football and foster kids, fathers and sons.

War room: prayer is a powerful weapon by Chris Fabry. Written from the 2015 movie, story of prayer as a weapon to save a troubled marriage.

The other Wes Moore: one name, two fates by Wes Moore. Two young men, African American, approximately the same age, from similar neighborhoods in Baltimore. Both grew up without a father in their homes. They grew up to follow two drastically different lives. The author provides a detailed list of organizations which serve and help young people in trouble.

Tiger in the sea: the ditching of Flying Tiger 923 and the desperate struggle for survival by Eric Lindner. A fascinating account of an airplane which had to make a forced landing in the North Atlantic in 1962, and heartwarming stories of survivors’ lives after.

  1. Hi Kathy,
All these books sound great! You gave enough of a description I want to buy (or at least look them up in the library!) them all!

  2. Putting yourself into the roles of the characters can be exciting in a way you can't achieve by watching a movie or TV show. It does work. Thanks for the reminder Kathy.

  3. Kathy, all of these sound like good reads! I think I would especially enjoy the story of the airplane disaster since I have always loved to fly. (No, sadly, I never got to pilot a plane - just fly in several!). Sequoia Scout would be a close second for me. I have read a book by Brock and Bodie in quite some time. Thank you for sharing!

  4. Wow, I loved your recommendations for books to read!! One that I loved (but haven't read for years) is Unbroken. It took 2 movies to cover the entire story of Louie Zamperini, so IMHO, the book is better.

Thank you, Kathy, for these recommendations!! :)
